Open mouth insert foot …LeBron joins Kobe with foolish Dream Team talk!

Sweet-shooting Larry Bird.

Okay, Eye On Sports NBA fanatics, this Dream team debate stuff is really getting a bit out of hand now. First, Kobe Bryant came out with his foolish comments on how today’s Olympic hoops team could beat the legendary 1992 Dream Team nearly two weeks ago, now, fellow NBA superstar Lebron James threw his name and opinion into the ring by agreeing with Bryant, though he did say he respected his mostly Hall of Fame predecessors (yeah right).

Magic Johnson on the move.
Just prior to the U.S. team making its Olympic debut, James boast in a television interview that today’s Olympic team could beat the 1992 Dream team headed up by Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

"As a competitor you never want to say that you will lose, no matter who you are going against," James told ABC News "Nightline" anchor Cynthia McFadden.

While James did try to show some respect for the greatest basketball team ever assembled, he nevertheless, came off sounding like a blubbering drunkard if you ask me.

Michael Jordan in full flight.
"The '92 Dream Team paved the way for all of us ... We understand what they did for our game, but we also are big-time competitors as well, so if we got the opportunity to play them in a game we feel like we would win, too," James said.

Charles Barkley throwing down.
As I said of Kobe Bryant when he made his initial comments about beating the original Dream Team, James is absolutely nuts!

There is absolutely no way today’s Olympic hoops team could ever, ever (and I do mean ever) beat the 1992 Dream Team, a croup that consisted of 11 future Hall of Famers and won its games by an average of more than 43 points.

As Charles Barkley said, only three of today’s players, (James, Bryant and Kevin Durant) would make the 1992 team, so I don’t see any way tat today’s hoopsters could beat their more glorified counterparts.

Hell, if they weren’t all about 50 years old, I’d back Bird, Magic and Jordan to beat these mostly young punks to this very day – and in today’s me-first, I-want-it-now, fast-paced ‘microwave times’ how nice would it be to see some young whippersnappers get put in their place?
