Ingenious move by Pete Carroll and Seahawks!

Veteran NFL wide receiver Terrell
Owens has the body of a 21-year-old.

You heard it here first Eye On Sports NFL football fans, the Seattle Seahawks – and head coach Pete Carroll – are going to end up looking like geniuses after giving enigmatic former veteran NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens a shot to resume his Hall of Fame-caliber career on Monday.

I’ve been saying it for quite some time now gridiron fanatics, but finally, someone is giving the now 38-year-old Owens the shot he deserves after being more docile than damaging in each of his last two NFL stops in Buffalo and Cincinnati.

I have vehemently defended Owens by saying that he still has the body of a 21-year-old – and more importantly – told those who pointed to his past locker room indiscretions – that Owens is far more humble right now than they could ever imagine.

After signing his reported Owens one-year, $1 million deal on Monday night, Owens let his feelings be known, via the ever-popular Twitter, saying, "God is good. Thankful. Grateful. To ALL my new teammates & the "12th Man"... Let's Do This!! "

Seattle’s jovial, but demanding head coach Pete Carroll, also used Twitter to welcome Owens, writing: "@terrellowens welcome to the land of the #12thMan Terrell, see you in the morning... 8am meetings!!

Owens hasn't played in the NFL since the 2010 season with Cincinnati when he caught 72 passes for 983 yards and nine touchdowns, but it says right here that he equals those numbers at the least this season after not getting any offers (can you say blackball?) to play in the league last season.

As I always say about the often mercurial Owens, one ting that no one can ever accuse the outspoken wideout of is not playing hard. Locker room ‘drama’ or not, Owens has always come to play – and even his biggest detractors know this to be true.

One thing’s for sure football fans, it’s going to be very interesting to see exactly what happens with Owens and the rebuilding Seahawks this season!

What are your thoughts Eye on Sports readers?

I love the signing of T.O. I'm also comfortable knowing that PC and Co. won't have a problem if things don't workout for whatever reason... Go Hawks!

  4. I'm curious to see what he brings to the table. Seattle definitely needs a first rate receiver (considering Rice is a walking injury). With the 9'ers picking up Moss and Manningham, Seattle taking fliers on Edwards and Owens could be just the edge this team needs to compete and possibly win the division. Besides, Flynn needs targets!!!!
