Lisa Raymond says …Born in the USA!

Veteran WTA star Lisa Raymond has
been winning grand slam titles for
nearly two decades and appears
eaded for another in 2012.
While American tennis has taken a tumble in recent years while falling behind several other nations in producing grand slam-contending players, one longtime American born and bred player is still making her mark in a huge way on the women’s WTA Tour – all at the grand old age of 38.

That’s right racquet lovers, I’m talking about veteran USA doubles star, Lisa Raymond, who hails Wayne, PA, just about 45 minutes outside my hometown of Philadelphia.

Not only has the amazing Raymond won an incredible 10 grand slam doubles titles (four in mixed doubles), but she’s also played in a whopping 18 grand slam finals in her illustrious career, which began way back in 1993, a time when only one percent of all two-way telecommunication was being carried via the Internet.

Anyway, Raymond teamed with 35-year-old Liezel Huber to win this past weekend’s doubles title

straight win this season and fourth straight tournament title.
at Indian Wells by beating Sania Mirza of India and Elena Vesnina of Russia 6-2, 6-3 and appears to be well on her way toward possibly winning another grand slam title or two this season.

Raymond and Huber have now won 16 consecutive matches this season – including four consecutive tournament titles at the Paris Indoors, Doha, Dubai and now, Indian Wells.

For her career, Raymond has won a jaw-dropping 78 career WTA doubles titles, putting her sixth on the all-time list – with apparently – no plans of slowing down.
