Okay Eye On Sports March Madness junkies, the second-seeded Duke Blue Devils – and identical No. 2 Missouri Tigers – both got bounced out of the 2012 NCAA Tournament in a big way on Friday.
Thanks to the a fantastic 30-point effort from 6-3 combo guard C.J. McCollum, the two-time Patriot League Player of the Year, the Lehigh Mountain Hawks dominated their higher profiled foes for the majority of the game en route to a solid 75-70 win on Friday. Lehigh was so steady down the stretch that they never trailed after taking the lead for good with 8:21 remaining in the contest.
"They had the best player on the court tonight in McCollum," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said. "He's been their player of the year, and he's really one of the outstanding players in the country. You could see why tonight."
"You always go into the game with a sense of confidence," O'Quinn said, "but I never thought it was an upset-alert until that buzzer went off.
Talk about March Madness Eye On Sports fans and this is what college basketball is all about. Thanks Lehigh and Norfolk State , even though you both messed up my bracket in a big way!
By the way, Norfolk State and Lehigh are just the fifth and sixth 15 seeds to knock out a No. 2 seed.
