Lakers nab Nash, now top threat to dethrone Thunder?

The Lakers are now legitimate title contenders
after adding two-time MVP Steve Nash.

The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off arguably the most shocking free agent acquisition this summer when they landed former two-time league MVP Steve Nash in a trade with the Phoenix Suns.

My question to Eye On Sports NBA lovers is this. Does the acquisition of Nash make the Lakers the top threat to dethrone the Western Conference-champion Oklahoma City Thunder?

Has L.A. now surpassed San Antonio, Dallas, Memphis and every other title contender, even Oklahoma City, in the race for first place out west?

Eye On Sports says the Lakers are now No. 2 out west – right behind the Thunder. Sure, the Lakers need some bench depth and another perimeter shooter or two, but now that they have Nash in the fold, Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, will all get much easier shots – and that’s a really good thing for the aging Bryant in particular.
